Racism and discrimination of Qatar to the migrant workers

UN Special Rapporteur, E Tendayi Achiume pays visit to Qatar on present issues of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance. She also meets up with the government officials and discuss about the country’s approach to address racism. Achiume also meets organizations and representatives of ethnic and religious minorities who also experienced racial abuse, including migrants, refugees, asylum seekers and women.

Her report highlights the systematic racism that the minorities are facing. It particularly prospects the abuse that the migrant workers are facing from Asia and Africa.

Achiume says that this reports of racism in the country considers the unequal access of rights between Qataris and long-term migrant workers. She then discovered racism also practically manifested itself. African and Asian people facing oppositions in approaching public areas such as shopping mall as opposed to Arab and white people.
