A Lebanese woman carrying a well placard that communicates the harsh realities of many Lebanese women who have been denied the right to confer their nationality to their children and/or spouses during “My Nationality is a Right for Me and My Family”. October 2019, Beirut, Lebanon.

Women’s rights organizations across the region have been campaigning for equal citizenship rights for decades and have advocated for this right to achieve gender equality and equal citizenship.

Two draft laws have currently reached the parliament following the last Lebanese elections in 2018. The first was submitted on August 6, 2018, and the second on May 14, 2019. They both endorse the Campaign’s demands for full equality between women and men in granting citizenship without any discrimination or exception.
